A leather studio based in East London, creating hand-stitched, custom-made bags, purses, belts, and accessories.
Each piece is designed and crafted by Zöe Lawrence, using traditional techniques, premium vegetable-tanned leather, and a deep appreciation for form, function, and individuality.
Our Timeless Designs
Rooted in architectural precision and inspired by origami and geometric folding, our designs are timeless, tactile, and made to evolve beautifully with age.
Made from beautiful Italian vegetable tanned leather this is a Geo Cross Body/ Belt Bag with a twist; super versatile it can be work across the body, as a belt bag or the strap can be removed and the bag used as a small clutch/ hand held bag. Perfect for your basic essentials it has one main compartment and is fastened with a closing tab and Sam Brown fixing.

Looking after your leather:
Made from vegetable tanned leather. As a natural material each item is unique all depending on where the leather is cut from and will age and wear with time, enhancing its beautiful finish. The colour is achieved through a natural dying process using plant based tannins, rather than harmful chemicals. Lighter and brighter colours may darken as part of this process. Please note darker colours may transfer onto light colours.
We recommend looking after your item by treating it with leather food every now and then to protect and moisturise.
This small Tilt Purse is made from beautiful Italian bubble vegetable tanned leather with Nickel plated brass hardware.
Perfect for those wanting a compact purse, fastened with a Sam Brown fixing, the purse will fit both cards and coins.

Our Story
As a practicing Architect Zöe Lawrence always found the time to be creative outside of the work environment and after a number of years in the industry felt it was time for a change; stepping back from Architecture she decided to focus on her love of leatherwork and BZRD - EAST was established in 2023.
Zöe is interested in exploring the idea of geometric shapes, drawing inspiration from origami and folding techniques to develop unique and useable leather items.
At BZRD-EAST we create pure leather goods, designed and handcrafted by Zöe in her studio in East London, England.
Using only the finest quality materials we endeavour to source locally wherever possible and use all elements of the leather hide to ensure there is minimal waste.
We use vegetable dyed leather; a natural process that has been used for thousands of years and achieves a beautiful finish whilst being kinder to the environment.
We believe in individuality, creating high quality unique items that will stand the test of time. Leather is a natural material and comes with naturally unique markings that emphasise its authenticity and will vary all depending on from where the leather is cut. All of our products will develop a unique patina as they age and wear, imparting an individual personality to the product.
